OpenINTEL passes 5 trillion results milestone
OpenINTEL has just passed the major milestone of 5 trillion results. We reached this milestone in December 2020, at the end of our fifth full year of operation. Over 2020, we have added ccTLDs and realised a major additional data source with the daily measurement of the full IPv4 reverse DNS namespace. As our sixth year of operation starts, we remain dedicated to our mission of being the long-term memory of the DNS.

Major new feature: IPv4 reverse measurements
As of the middle of February 2020, the OpenINTEL measurement has been extended to also cover the entire IPv4 reverse DNS name space. Like our other measurements, this measurement runs once every 24 hours. Using this data we hope to gain new insight into how the address space is managed, and to check, for example, consistency between forward and reverse DNS. This measurement adds an additional 1.1 billion data points per day, a data collection growth of over 45%.
